The Mid-Atlantic AIDS Education and Training Center (MAAETC) provides training events to health care professionals in the Richmond area.

2018 Eastern Region HIV/AIDS Fall Summit

This program is designed for primary care physicians and specialists treating HIV patients as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, case managers, social workers, and peer educators. At this summit, attendees will integrate and apply current evidence based knowledge so that HIV patients can live healthier and longer lives. Topics will include: Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), Hepatitis C, and Substance use disorders.

HIV Prevention Counseling Series: The Fundamentals of Prevention Counseling

This one day course provides guidelines and skill-building opportunities for professionals who implement prevention counseling and HIV antibody testing. This workshop incorporates recommendations and strategies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for personalizing prevention counseling sessions before and after testing for HIV. The Facts and the CDC on line Rapid HIV test course are pre-requisites for this course.

Mental Health First Aid: Adult

Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses.
