The Mid-Atlantic AIDS Education and Training Center (MAAETC) provides training events to health care professionals in the Richmond area.

Trauma Informed Care

John Richardson-Lauve, Director of Trauma and Resiliency Education and Mental Health at Childsavers in Richmond, VA will provide basic training in trauma and trauma informed care. By the end of this training, participants will be able to: Define various types of trauma and its impact on brain development in both children and adults, list the roles that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) play in adult physical and mental health, and demonstrate how professionals can apply trauma concepts into daily practice.

HIV Prevention Counseling Series: The Facts

This one-day course provides information concerning the spectrum of HIV disease, HIV antibody testing and developments in rapid testing, legal issues, disclosure assistance (partner counseling and referral services), risk assessment and reduction and psychosocial issues.
